Come to Seoul in December and you'd expect to catch at least one year-end awards show. Twenty-something acts, a sea of lightsticks, the big group finale. This year, though, you need a map first. MAMA is in Osaka. AAA is in Kaohsiung. The Golden Disc Awards are in Vietnam. What's left in Seoul is smaller than the hype suggests, and most of it isn't something you buy. It's something you get drawn for. So this isn't a calendar. It's a filter: only the shows a traveler with a few days in Seoul can realistically walk into.

The short version
  • Two November weekends at Gocheok Sky Dome: KGMA on Nov 7–8 and the Melon Music Awards (MMA) on Nov 14–15, both in Seoul. MMA tickets sold on Melon Ticket for ₩65,000.
  • Christmas: SBS Gayo Daejeon on Dec 24–25 at KINTEX in Goyang, just outside Seoul. Last year, Korean viewers entered a free lottery while foreigners got in through foreigner-only packages (ticket plus shuttle) on travel platforms. This year's sales haven't opened yet.
  • Not in Seoul: MAMA (Osaka, Nov 20–21), AAA (Kaohsiung, Dec 5–6) and the Golden Disc Awards (Vietnam, Jan 9–10, 2027).
  • Still unannounced: MBC Gayo Daejejeon (usually Dec 31) and the KBS Song Festival.

How do you get tickets for the November shows at Gocheok Dome?

This is Seoul's real window this year. Gocheok Sky Dome (고척스카이돔) is an indoor dome a short walk from Guil Station (구일역) on Line 1, so a November night there isn't a cold one.

The Melon Music Awards run over two nights for the first time in their 18 years: 14 acts on the first night, 12 on the second, both starting at 6 p.m. Tickets opened on Kakao's Melon Ticket in member waves, Melon Gold members on October 19 and pass holders on October 22, with floor and stand seats both priced at ₩65,000. That member-first structure makes it hard for a visitor to get in now. Whether any seats or a foreigner allocation remain is something only Melon Ticket's notices can tell you.

KGMA is this weekend, November 7–8. Travel platforms such as NOL World and Trazy list foreigner packages that bundle a floor seat with a round-trip shuttle from Gwanghwamun. Packages like these are usually non-refundable and check ID at the door. By the time you read this, it may be over. Keep it as a note for next November.

Can foreigners get into SBS Gayo Daejeon at Christmas?

This is the main event of December in the Seoul area. For its 30th anniversary, SBS Gayo Daejeon runs over two days for the first time, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, at KINTEX (킨텍스) in Ilsan. The first lineup, released October 23, already lists 22 acts, including Stray Kids, TXT, IVE, RIIZE and ENHYPEN. You don't need to know who they are. Think of it as two nights of the year's greatest hits, live.

The catch is the ticket. For Korean viewers, broadcasters' year-end stages usually aren't sold. They're drawn. Last Christmas's show, at Inspire Arena in Incheon, was a free lottery, and this August's summer edition took applications through the official SBS app. Foreigners, though, get a second door. Last year, foreigner-only packages went on sale separately: a standing ticket bundled with a round-trip shuttle from Hongik University Station, listed on travel platforms, and Interpark Global announced K-culture travel packages going on sale from mid-November. These packages require the booking name to match your passport, are non-refundable, and admit ages 15 and up. This December's packages and entry method haven't been announced yet. Watch the official partner platforms from mid-November, and don't book your flight before that.

KINTEX isn't in Seoul. It's in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, reached from Daehwa Station (대화역) on Line 3 or the GTX-A KINTEX station. If the show runs late, getting back into the city takes some planning, so factor it into where you stay.

What about MBC Gayo Daejejeon and the KBS Song Festival?

Neither has announced 2026 details yet. MBC has broadcast its show live on the night of December 31 for years; last year it was held at MBC Dream Center in Ilsan, and the audience was filled mostly through artists' fan-club applications. For a visitor, it's the hardest of the three to get into. KBS held last year's show on December 19 at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, with tickets allocated by lottery on NOL Ticket. We'll update the table once they're out.

Can you enjoy year-end K-pop in Seoul without a ticket?

Yes, and your odds are much better. Even the shows held abroad stream live online. MAMA streams worldwide on Mnet Plus, and MMA streams outside Korea on Melon's YouTube channel and 1theK.

DanielA Note From Daniel — our real human editor

At the end of every year, Korea's broadcasters take turns holding their award shows: music festivals, entertainment awards, drama awards. It's a very old tradition, and each network broadcasts its shows live on TV. The entertainment and drama awards are closer to actors and entertainers getting together to celebrate each other. The music shows are more like a year-end concert built as a gift set for fans. Seeing one in person is great, of course. But if you can't get a ticket, watching from your room with friends or family, good food and a beer is more than good enough!

By day, everything in K-pop in Seoul without a ticket, from Random Play Dance to birthday cafés and music-show tapings, keeps running through December. Spending Christmas evening in the city instead of at KINTEX? Pair it with Seoul's Christmas lights and markets.

How do you avoid fake tickets?

Many year-end stages are free lotteries, yet "audience tickets for sale" posts always show up on social media. Lottery seats usually admit you by name and ID, so a ticket bought from someone else's win can get you turned away at the door. Buy only from official sellers: Melon Ticket, the broadcaster's own app or website, and official partner travel platforms.
