Which K-pop Agency HQ Is Actually Worth the Trip

You'll spot them all over Seoul — people taking photos outside agency buildings, some alone, some in groups, filming a quick short-form clip in the lobby before moving on. Here's the thing nobody tells you upfront: the three big ones are wildly different experiences. One's genuinely worth the trip. Two are basically a photo op. Here's which is which — no fandom required. 🎬

HYBE (Yongsan) — one photo and you're done

Lobby and exterior only. There used to be a museum here, HYBE INSIGHT, but it closed permanently in January 2023 with a promise to reopen "at a new location soon." Three years later, still no news. People still show up expecting the museum and leave disappointed — don't be one of them. The Yongsan area does rotate through themed pop-ups (BT21 cafés and similar) every few months, so check what's currently running nearby before you go.

SM (Seongdong-gu) — this is the one that's actually real

There's a public space called KWANGYA@SEOUL, and you can genuinely walk in. No reservation needed as of 2025–2026. Open daily, 10:30am–8pm.

I've visited both the SM and HYBE offices regularly for work meetings. Every time, I'd see foreign fans there too — some on their own, some in groups, taking photos and filming shorts in the lobby. SM has a huge screen on the first floor running artist footage on loop, and a café where you don't need to be an employee to sit down. The "you might get lucky and run into an artist" part isn't something I've seen myself — that came from an SM employee I was meeting with, so take it as secondhand but from someone who'd actually know.

JYP (Gangdong-gu) — honestly, there's not much reason to go

No official tour, no walk-in lobby, no merch shop. Exterior photos are about the extent of it. It's near Mongchontoseong Station (Line 8), but it's not worth carving time out of your day for.

One thing worth remembering

These are real offices where people actually work. Agencies have issued formal fan-etiquette notices about sasaeng-style behavior before (SEVENTEEN's agency, for one). Taking a photo of the building is fine. Following or secretly photographing staff or trainees is a different thing entirely.
